Green Ostrich Tip – Install Storm Doors

Green Ostrich Tip of the Week

Green Ostrich offers occasional suggestions on how to go green in the home, office and school. This week’s tip is for the home.

Our last tip was to switch your single-pane windows to thicker, double-pane, energy-efficient windows. Basically this tip adds another barrier between you and the weather outside.

This week’s tip is similar. It’s all about adding another layer between you and the outdoors. But this time it is on your doors. Consider adding a storm door at all entrances. This fairly inexpensive change could increase your energy efficiency by 45%.

This device even has a car charger on it. yes a car charger, just by winding up the product you give it life. The longer you wind the longer your able to use this product when it comes to electrical or battery power. It has a hammer, flashlight and magnets, cutter, beacon, dynamo handle and cellphone charger. This is one product you need to have in your glove dept, or the truck of your car.”

Green Ostrich Tip – Expensive but worth it – Double Panes

Green Ostrich Tip of the Week

Green Ostrich offers occasional suggestions on how to go green in the home, office and school. This week’s tip is for all three.

Every window you see – in your home, office or school – consider switching it to the double pane variety. Replacing outdated, single-pane windows with their energy-efficient double-pane counterparts can reduce your heating costs significantly.  Some even say you can cut your energy bill by a third with this tip. While costly initially, this change pays for itself in just a couple of years.

Green Ostrich Reviewed by New Age Mama

Big Thanks to New Age Mama for their recent review of the Green Ostrich  solar flashlight.

Here’s some of what New Age Mama had to say: “Green Ostrich sent me a SolaDyne Solar Flashlight to review, and I believe everyone should own at least a few of these remarkable products. It can be charged for 15 hours by leaving it in the sunlight for a full day. Or you can crank it up for one minute for one hour of light. These means you don’t have to worry about having no light in an emergency. There are no batteries to die or to be replaced. This is great for the environment because it is creates less waste, but also great for your wallet because batteries are expensive. The flashlight is small enough to keep in your handbag or glove compartment, but provides an amazing amount of illumination despite its small size.  For only $17.89 a piece, they are affordable and functional accessory.

Green Ostrich Tip – Close Off Drafts

Green Ostrich Tip of the Week

Green Ostrich offers occasional suggestions on how to go green in the home, office and school. This week’s tip is for all three.

Look for sources of drafts and make an effort to close them off.  Sealing drafts and increasing insulation can reduce your heating bills up to the 20 percent range. Sources of drafts can be windows and doors. Also consider adding plastic on your windows in the winter months.

Envitote Praises from the blog “The Truth”

Green Ostrich would like to thank the reviewers at “The Truth” for their recent review of the Green Ostrich Envitote. The team there loved this great tote!  Here is some of what they had to say:

“This bag comes in really handy when you don’t what to fight with all the bags from the store. When I just have to run to the store for a few items, I grab my bag and head out. It is so much easier because speaking for myself I have a over load of store bags under my kitchen sink and don’t need to add to the problem. So I love to use my Envitote when ever I can.”
